Definition: Rhinoplasty is surgery of the nose to correct a nasal deformity. The
nose may be crooked, too large or too wide.
Age: As soon as skeletal growth is
complete:
approximately 13 in girls and 15-17 in boys.
Surgical technique: Surgery consists of
lowering a bump on the bridge of the nose,
narrowing the nasal bones to give a sculpted
look, lifting and reducing the tip or narrowing
the nostrils.
The closed technique is used 99.9% of the
time. External incisions are used to narrow the
nostrils. The incision is made in the crease
where the nostril meets the face and is usually
invisible.
Philosophy: Create a natural look without
irregularities. Each surgery is tailored to the
individual's nose. |
 |
Every nose is different and so each surgery creates a
nose that fits your face, not
the same nose for everybody. Nobody will know you had surgery. You should look
like a better version of yourself- -The same "you" but with a more attractive
nose.
Surgical time and recovery: Surgery takes 1-2 hours and there is a bandage on
for two days. All stitches are out in 4 days. The patient can go back to work or
school in 4-5 days. No contact sports for 6 weeks. Depending on the procedure,
there may be a splint on the nose for 8 days. Small packs inside the nostrils are
removed the day after surgery. The patient can go back to work in just over a week.
Related procedures: Chin enhancement: Because the chin balances the nose,
a
small chin will benefit from augmentation with a chin implant when combined with a
reduction in the size of the nose.
Airway Correction: Surgery to correct breathing problems, such as a
deviated
septum, can be performed at the same time.
Cheek Implants: These are inserted through an incision in the mouth.
